For the benefit of my non-Filipino friends: Balut, a duck egg, is a delicacy in the Philippines. Its contents are a baby duck, the yolk, "egg white," and some soup. No, the yolk is not a round, yellow, gel-like part. In the balut it is usually iregularly shaped, taking some form of the baby duck. They say the duck is the best (and most nutritious) part about eating balut. Personally though, I prefer to eat just the yolk with some salt
